The Greenies still have a chance of hosting at least one postseason game, but tonight could be the last time Manning plays a game at home on Newman's Michael Lupin Field.
There is no time for sentiment, however, as this might be one of the most important non-postseason games Manning has ever faced.
Both Newman and St. Charles Catholic are 2-0 in their division, and tonight's result will have major ramifications on postseason seeding.
This game could be the last time the nation's No. 1 recruit plays in front of his hometown fans, and it will determine which team will be in a better position for the playoffs.

Seemingly born to play football, Newman senior quarterback Arch Manning is the nephew of Super Bowl winners Peyton and Eli Manning and the grandson of former NFL quarterback Archie Manning.
Like his uncles and grandfather, he is off to play football in the SEC next year.
The Texas commit may have plans to enroll as a Longhorn early, but he has his eyes set on winning his first football state championship before hanging up his Newman gear for good.
Manning has had a stellar senior year, to say the least. Not only has he thrown for more than 1,700 yards and accounted for 28 total touchdowns, but he has also broken every single passing and touchdown record in Newman's 119-year history.
The Greenies are 7-1 as a result, securing all but two of their wins by at least double digits. Their only loss of the season was a 25-17 heartbreaker against the 2021 LHSAA Class 2A state championship runner-up Many Tigers.
Both Manning and Newman will be put to the test this week though, as they host a 6-3 St. Charles Catholic team that is also undefeated in league play.
With the postseason play officially beginning next week, this game will have a major impact on where both teams land in the Class 2A bracket, and whether or not either team earns a first-round bye or the right to host a playoff game.
Will this be the final home game of Arch Manning's illustrious high school career?
Don't wait until after the game to find out.
