The Army West Point Black Knights started a tradition in 2016 of wearing a specialty uniform for the annual Army-Navy Game honoring a specific division of the Army.
The result? Three unique sets of threads and three wins straight wins to end a stretch of 14 consecutive losses to the Midshipmen. Army is continuing this new tradition with a specialty uniform honoring the 1st Cavalry Division for Saturday's game.
These "First Team" uniforms are white and Army green with lettering on the pants in the same font as what appeared on the UH-1 helicopters used by the 1st Cavalry Division. That division became America's first airmobile division during the Vietnam War. Army's helmets are green with the division's iconic gold crossed sabers logo.
The first Division uniform honored the 82nd Airborne Division in 2016, followed by the 10th Mountain Division. Last year's edition remembered the 1st Infantry Division.
Navy rolled out a throwback uniform of its own as it looks to reclaim the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy. The Midshipmen's 1960s era throwbacks are inspired by Heisman Trophy winners Roger Staubach and Jim Bellino.
