Associated Press Announces Update To College Football Top 25 Poll After Accidental 'Misfire'

An error was made by one of the Associated Press Top 25 Poll voters this last weekend. An updated top 25 poll has been released as a result.

Thomas Murphy, a voter for the AP Top 25, made an accidental mistake in his Week 5 votes. He put North Carolina at No. 17, instead of NC State. The Wolfpack checked in at 18. He accidentally left out Oregon.

The mistakes have been fixed.

"CFB fans, I ask your forgiveness. I compiled my AP poll super early Sunday a.m. and erred. I put UNC at 17, instead of NC State. Put the Wolfpack at 18 and inadvertently left out Oregon, my intended 18. Thanks @ralphDrussoAP for working to re-issue poll, get record straight," Thomas Murphy said on Twitter.

Ralph D. Russo has corrected the mistake and the AP Top 25 has been updated, as a result.

"We cleaned up the misfire and the only differences were point totals for NC State and Oregon changed a little. Appreciate Tom reaching out," Ralph D. Russo said on Twitter.

The small change includes updated point totals for both NC State and Oregon.
