An Auburn quarterback will soon undergo surgery that will reportedly require him to miss the rest of the 2022 season. That player is Texas A&M transfer Zach Calzada.

Calzada will reportedly undergo surgery on his non-throwing arm later this month. The surgery is expected to force the Texas A&M transfer to miss the remainder of the 2022 season.

A significant hit to Auburn's quarterback depth. However, Calzada didn't appear in a single game for the Tigers this season.

"Auburn quarterback Zach Calzada will undergo surgery and miss the remainder of the 2022 season, @AUUndercover can confirm. @_JHokanson first reported. Auburn down to two scholarship QBs for its SEC opener against Missouri," said Nathan King.

To make matters worse for Auburn, it will be without starter TJ Finley, the LSU transfer, this Saturday vs. Missouri. That means Oregon transfer Robby Ashford is expected to get the start.

Ashford is an explosive athlete with a big arm. Although his experience passing at the college level is minimal, his ability to pick up big chunks of yards on the ground will be key on Saturday.
