Big Ten Second-Half Predictions and Midseason Review

J.T. Barrett

Ohio State entered the 2016 with just six returning starters, but the Buckeyes quickly reloaded behind coach Urban Meyer and quarterback J.T. Barrett and hits the midpoint of the year as one of the favorites to win the national title. While the Buckeyes are considered the top team in the Big Ten, there isn't much separation to the No. 2 team - Michigan. The Wolverines remain undefeated entering Week 8 and are likely to be 11-0 when they head to Columbus on Nov. 26. The biggest surprise in the East Division has been the drop off of Michigan State. At 2-4, the Spartans will need a lot of help just to get to a bowl in 2016.

The West Division features three teams battling for the top spot. Wisconsin has faced one of the nation’s toughest schedules in 2016 and still has to take on Nebraska and Iowa. The Cornhuskers are off to a fast start (6-0) but the toughest part of the schedule remains for coach Mike Riley. Despite a loss to Northwestern, Iowa is still in good shape to contend for the division crown.

Here are some award winners, plus second-half predictions from the Big Ten in 2016:
