There are two bowl games on today

Friday is not only the first official day of winter it also marks the beginning of a flurry of college football bowl games. Starting Friday, Dec. 21, college football fans will be treated to 31 bowl games through New Year's Day. While the College Football Playoff Semifinals on Dec. 29 and the New Year's Six lineup are considered the premiere matchups, there are plenty of other games on tap that you don't want to miss.

Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl: FIU (8-4) vs. Toledo (7-5)

12:30 p.m. ET, ESPN — Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas
Why You Should Watch: The only bowl game played outside of the United States, Toledo ranks 11th nationally in scoring (41.1 ppg) with FIU averaging 34.6 a contest. The Panthers have turned the ball over just 12 times this season.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Western Michigan (7-5) vs. BYU (6-6)

4 p.m. ET, ESPN — Lyle Smith Field at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho

Why You Should Watch: Both Western Michigan and BYU missed out on the postseason last fall, so it’s fitting these two teams are set to meet on the blue turf. The two teams are led by true freshman quarterbacks in the Broncos' Kaleb Eleby and Cougars' Zach Wilson.
