California Football: Golden Bears Unveil Throwback Uniforms Honoring Joe Roth


For the third straight year, the California Golden Bears will play the Joe Roth Memorial Game in throwback uniforms, honoring their former quarterback by wearing bright blue and yellow uniforms reminiscent of the ones he wore in the 1970s.

Cal will wear the uniforms on Saturday against USC; the series takes place annually in a home game against USC or UCLA. Roth, whose No. 12 is the only uniform retired by the Golden Bears, died of melanoma at 21 following the 1976 season.
