Let our fantasy experts help you pick a great college fantasy football lineup
Week 0 of the 2019 college football season takes place on Saturday, Aug. 24. That means it’s time to pick your optimal DraftKings college football fantasy lineup. Fortunately, our college football fantasy experts are ready to help. Players from two matchups are available to be selected on DraftKings for the Saturday games between Florida and Miami and Arizona at Hawaii.
Here’s what our best Week 0 (Aug. 24) college fantasy football DFS lineup looks like for Saturday matchups:
College Fantasy Football DFS Picks
Saturday DFS Slate (2 games)
QB: Cole McDonald, Hawaii (vs. Arizona - $8,800)
McDonald got off to a fast start in 2018 but slowed in the second half due to injuries. He’s back to full strength and gets an Arizona secondary that finished 11th in the Pac-12 in pass efficiency defense last season. The over/under for Saturday night’s matchup in Honolulu is set for 74. Get ready for a lot of points.
RB: J.J. Taylor, Arizona (at Hawaii - $7,700)
Taylor ran for 1,434 yards and six touchdowns last season and is one of the Pac-12’s top all-around backs. Look for him to find plenty of running room against a Hawaii defense that ranked ninth in the Mountain West versus the run in 2018.
RB: Kadarius Toney, Florida (vs. Miami - $3,300)
Toney is a wide receiver, but he’s listed at running back in DraftKings this weekend. The Alabama native is an all-purpose weapon for coach Dan Mullen, as he factored into returns, saw 25 carries and caught 21 passes last fall. He may not get a ton of opportunities, but the price is right ($3,300) for someone who could take any play for a touchdown.
WR: JoJo Ward, Hawaii (vs. Arizona - $6,000)
Take your pick of Hawaii receivers. Both Ward and Cedric Byrd are expected to see more opportunities in 2019 after John Ursua left for the NFL. Ward finished third on the team with 51 catches for 865 yards and nine scores last fall.
WR: Brian Casteel, Arizona (at Hawaii - $5,500)
Arizona lost its top four receivers from last season, so the pecking order for 2019 is a mystery. Casteel was listed as a co-starter on the depth chart with converted quarterback Jamarye Joiner in the slot. It’s a gamble, but one that I will take in a high-scoring game.
WR: Jason Matthew-Sharsh, Hawaii (vs. Arizona - $4,700)
Matthew-Sharsh seems to hold an edge over Melquise Stovall for Ursua’s old spot. I’ll take a gamble at $4,700.
Flex: K.J. Osborn, Miami (vs. Florida - $5,000)
Considering Miami’s concerns up front, along with Jarren Williams’ first start, anything Hurricanes-related in DFS is risky against a good Florida defense. However, with Jeff Thomas likely to attract a lot of attention on the outside, Osborn might end up as the No. 1 receiver on Saturday. The upside is limited, but there’s also potential for a handful of targets.
S-Flex: Khalil Tate, Arizona (at Hawaii - $9,000)
Tate is going to cost a good chunk of money ($9,000), but he’s back to 100 percent after being limited due to an ankle injury last season. And of course, there should be no shortage of points in the opener versus Hawaii.
