The FCS playoffs begins its 16-team bracket with eight games on Saturday
The best part of the spring college football calendar has arrived, as the 16-game FCS playoff kicks off on Saturday at noon. All eight games will take place on Saturday and are streamable on ESPN3.
Unlike in past years, North Dakota State is not the runaway favorite. Despite winning eight of the last nine national championships, the Bison went just 6-2 and are not one of the top four seeds. Still, NDSU is one of eight home teams this week and plays in one of the most intriguing first-round matchups.
So if you're wondering "What college football games are on today?" know this: There are eight involving FCS teams scheduled for today, Saturday, April 24.

Best College Football Game on TV Today
VMI at No. 3 James Madison, 2 p.m. on ESPN3
Despite losing their starting quarterback, the Keydets have one of the most explosive passing offenses in the FCS. But VMI will have its toughest matchup yet as it faces James Madison and the nation's No. 2 scoring defense. The Dukes are undefeated and looking to win a second title in five years after falling one game short in 2019.
Eastern Washington at North Dakota State, 3:30 p.m. on ESPN3
NDSU's title defense starts at home for potentially its only playoff game in the Fargodome. Can the Bison get consistency at quarterback? They'll need it, as Eastern Washington has a major edge at quarterback with Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year Eric Barriere.
Missouri State at North Dakota, 4 p.m. on ESPN3
Missouri Valley Football Conference co-champions will face off after one-loss regular seasons. These teams were supposed to meet on April 3, but a playoff matchup just raises the stakes between these rivals even higher.
Southern Illinois at Weber State, 4 p.m. on ESPN3
Southern Illinois has returned to the FCS playoff for the first time since 2009, and the Salukis will be tasked with slowing Weber State's three-man rotation of dangerous backs. Both teams have talented first-year starters at quarterback, so this one could get interesting.
