Given Charlotte's and FIU's defensive struggles this season, points should be plentiful on Friday night in Miami. The 49ers are looking to improve to 2-0 in Conference USA action while the Panthers are trying to keep their focus on the field amidst lots of discussion about the future of head coach Butch Davis.

Temple at No. 5 Cincinnati, 7 p.m. on ESPN

Following last Saturday's huge road win over Notre Dame, Cincinnati finds itself not only firmly in the driver's seat for the Group of 5 New Year's Six bid, but the Bearcats are putting together a strong case for making the College Football Playoff (while also potentially speeding up the expansion process). To get there, Luke Fickell's team needs to keep rolling up the victories. And remember, style points count. First up is the AAC opener against a Temple team that pulled off its own upset last weekend.

Stanford at No. 22 Arizona State, 10:30 p.m. on ESPN

Stanford is coming off of a thrilling, overtime win over previously undefeated Oregon and also took down USC earlier this season. Arizona State is back in the Top 25 after posting impressive victories over Colorado and UCLA. It should make for an entertaining affair in Tempe.
