Week 3 of the 2020 college football season offers up plenty of options on Saturday, Sept. 19. Unfortunately, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic impacted six games that were initially scheduled for Saturday, but that doesn't mean the slate has been entirely wiped clean. The AAC, ACC, Conference USA, and Sun Belt each have at least one conference game on tap and there are a few intriguing non-conference matchups as well.
So if you're wondering "What college football games are on today?" know this: There are 19 involving FBS teams scheduled for today, Saturday, Sept. 19.
Note: All times are ET.
Best College Football Games on TV Today
Navy at Tulane, 12 p.m. on ABC
The Midshipmen were embarrassed at home in their opener on Labor Day night against BYU, losing 55-3 in a game where the Cougars simply pushed them around on both sides of the ball. Navy's first crack at redemption comes against a Green Wave team that had to rally from an 18-point deficit in the third quarter to beat South Alabama on the road last Saturday.
UCF at Georgia Tech, 3:30 p.m. on ABC
The Knights love to beat Power 5 teams, but the Yellow Jackets are riding high after upsetting Florida State in Tallahassee. This is UCF's first game and the Knights arguably have more offensive firepower than Georgia Tech faced in beating the Seminoles. A win by the Yellow Jackets would be quite the start for Geoff Collins' second season in charge.
Appalachian State at Marshall, 3:30 p.m. on CBS
These two programs have a combined five FCS (formerly Division I-AA) championships between them and all but one of their previous 22 matchups occurred when both programs were still members of the subdivision. Both have since established themselves in their respective FBS conferences, with the Mountaineers coming in ranked 23rd in the AP poll and looking to claim the Group of 5's New Year's Six bowl berth. Thundering Herd get a chance to put a serious dent into those hopes at home on national TV.
Miami at Louisville, 7:30 p.m. on ABC
The game of the day is in the ACC when the Hurricanes take on the Cardinals. Both teams picked up wins against Conference USA foes in their openers and are hoping to contend for a spot in the ACC Championship Game in the conference's modified, 15-team alignment. Quarterbacks D'Eriq King and Micale Cunningham are similar in playing styles and this game could come down to which defense makes more stops or comes up with a big turnover.
Louisiana Tech at Southern Miss, 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2
Conference USA's West division will be in the spotlight on Saturday night when the Bulldogs take on the Golden Eagles in Hattiesburg. This will be Louisiana Tech's first game while Southern Miss will be led by interim head coach Scotty Walden, who took over following the resignation of Jay Hopson after the Golden Eagles' season-opening 32-21 loss to South Alabama two weeks ago.
