College Football Games on TV Today
Central Arkansas at UAB, 8 p.m. on ESPN3
The Bears from the FCS ranks are currently the nation's only undefeated team after beating Austin Peay 24-17 in the subdivision's kickoff game last Saturday in Montgomery, Ala. Central Arkansas racked up nearly 500 yards of offense against the Governors but needs to cut down on the turnovers (three) if it wants any chance of pulling off the upset. The Blazers are defending Conference USA West Division champs and return a total of 19 starters. UAB's defense finished in the top 10 nationally in both yards and passing yards allowed per game last season, so the Bears may struggle to move the ball.
South Alabama at Southern Miss, 9 p.m. on CBSSN
Schools separated by less than 100 miles will meet for the first time when the Golden Eagles from Conference USA host the Jaguars from the Sun Belt. Southern Miss has one of the top Group of 5 quarterbacks in Jack Abraham, while South Alabama's offense is hoping to take a step forward behind Desmond Trotter, who showed some promise late last season. Whichever defense steps up and makes a big play could help determine the winner of this game.
