College Football Group of 5 Coaches Poll: Week 11
Week 11 has come and gone, and there’s been a shift in the top five of this week’s Group of 5 coaches poll. The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, which sit at 8-1 and are favorites to win the Sun Belt, jumped UNLV for the No. 4 spot in this week’s rankings. The Rebels struggled with a trip to Hawai’i over the weekend, while Louisiana dominated Arkansas State, which was ranked No. 12 a week ago. Two new teams have entered the Top 15 this week: San José State and Ohio, giving the MAC representation in the poll.
The top teams in the poll from a week ago largely held serve in Week 1. Army limited North Texas’ explosive offense to just three points in a 14-3 slugfest. Navy got back in the win column with a 28-7 win at USF. Tulane, which broke into the AP Top 25 this week, bludgeoned Temple 52-6. Northern Illinois won the biggest MAC game of the week, handing Western MIchigan its first conference loss, 42-28. San José State upset Oregon State 24-13, while UNLV survived a tough trip to Hawai’i, 29-27. Louisiana continues to roll in the Sun Belt, with a blowout win over Arkansas State, while Texas State picked up a big road win at UL Monroe. Boise State got a legitimate scare from Nevada, but Ashton Jeanty’s 209 yards and three touchdowns powered the team to a 28-21 win.
Every coach from the AAC, Conference USA, MAC, Mountain West and Sun Belt will have the opportunity to rank the top G5 schools each week. Voting will remain anonymous during the season.
