Time is running out to turn in a winning season for college football picks against the spread. Well, unless you have been fading a certain picker's picks these past few weeks. But yours truly is determined to finish this season on a winning note, and a perfect record against the spread in Week 12 is undoubtedly incoming.
With college football's regular season coming down the stretch, a number of division-clinching scenarios are in play this weekend, and it may be worth riding a few teams in those situations. Alabama, Ohio State, and Wisconsin all are inching toward a division championship and have big games for those aspirations on tap this weekend. But how much faith do you have in them covering the spread as they attempt to do so?
Here are five picks against the spread that should be drawing your interest. Good luck though. We're probably going to need it.
Note: All times are ET and all games are on Saturday, Nov. 20.
It seems Michigan State has largely been written off following their upset loss two weeks ago against Purdue but should be strongly advised against it. The Spartans are a legitimate threat to Ohio State and this line should absolutely be viewed as disrespectful to the Spartans. Oh, Michigan State will still lose, but will keep this one tighter than the 19-point spread favoring the Buckeyes. Ohio State 34, Michigan State 23
No. 2 Alabama (-20.5) vs. No. 21 Arkansas, 3:30 p.m.
Earlier this season we saw just how far Arkansas is from competing with the best of the best when the Razorbacks were steamrolled by Georgia. The Hogs probably show up and put up a slightly better showing in Tuscaloosa, but Alabama will be ready to take care of business by wrapping up the SEC West crown and Bryce Young will put up some more Heisman-worthy numbers in the process. Alabama 40, Arkansas 17
No. 22 UTSA (-4.5) vs. UAB, 3:30 p.m.
Did you realize UTSA is one of three undefeated teams left in the country? While the Roadrunners may not be heading to the College Football Playoff, they do still have an outside shot at a New Year's Six bowl (that pesky Cincinnati squad is still standing in the way). UTSA feels like a safe bet with the recent run it's have been on with double-digit point victories, but UAB could play massive spoiler and take control of the Conference USA championship picture with a win. Expect a close battle in San Antonio, but the Roadrunners get the late cover. UTSA 38, UAB 32
No. 18 Pittsburgh (-14.5) vs. Virginia, 3:30 p.m.
Kenny Pickett and the Panthers will continue to be highly productive on offense and Virginia will simply not have enough to keep up on the road. This is a Virginia team that gave up 66 points to BYU and lost 28-3 to Notre Dame last week. But a return to ACC play this week will not be much kinder as the Panthers keep rolling their way to an ACC Coastal Division title. Pitt 34, Virginia 17
Georgia Southern will be in for a long afternoon against a far more talented and stronger BYU Cougars program. Don't expect much of an entertaining one here as BYU will easily grab a cover on the road. BYU 36, Georgia Southern 13
