Last week saw a couple of tough beats for our weekly college football picks against the spread, meaning we have some ground to make up going into October.
Clemson was unable to cover on the road against Wake Forest thanks to a double-overtime game, but I do hope you took the over. And Arkansas with the soul-crushing doink off the top of the goal post led to our first push of the season. And don't get us started with the finish to the Oregon-Washington State game. Let's turn the page and just hope for a better record in October.
Note: All times are ET and all games are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1.

This game could easily be a back-and-forth affair that you will not want to miss. Will Levis and the Wildcats should have little problem keeping things within one touchdown against the Rebels. Heck, they may even come away with the win. Ole Miss 34, Kentucky 32

The Gophers have demolished everyone they have played so far this season, and Purdue could be the next victim. If quarterback Aidan O'Connell is out for the Boilermakers, Minnesota could run away with this one even without Chris Autman-Bell. Expect a big day from running back Mohamed Ibrahim for the home team. Minnesota 33, Purdue 17
No. 2 Alabama at No. 20 Arkansas (+17)
3:30 p.m. on CBS, live stream on fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Alabama has failed us once this season against the spread with a closer call against Texas than most expected to see on the road a few weeks back. This could be another game that sees the Crimson Tide struggle to cover the spread. While this game will never be in too much doubt, Bama comes up just short of covering against the Razorbacks. Alabama 37, Arkansas 23
No. 5 Clemson (-7) vs. No. 10 NC State
7:30 p.m. on ABC, live stream on fuboTV (Start your free trial)
After escaping Wake Forest with a double-OT victory last week, Clemson has another big test in front in ACC play against NC State. The Tigers won't have back-to-back close calls though and the home team will put this game away in the second half. Clemson 27, NC State 17
No. 6 USC (-25) vs. Arizona State
10:30 p.m. on ESPN, live stream on fuboTV (Start your free trial)
USC got caught up in a defensive battle with Oregon State last weekend, but the Trojans should be able to kick things back into high gear at home against the Sun Devils. USC should jump all over Arizona State from the start and never look back in a rout. USC 45, Arizona State 16
