Midway through the college football season sees some teams hitting their stride, finding their identity, or simply falling out of the picture. And if you think you have learned anything this season, then each week has managed to prove you don't know anything when it comes to predicting this crazy sport.
That's what makes college football so entertaining and why you keep coming back to it week in and week out. This week's slate includes some fun traditional rivalry games like USC-Notre Dame and Alabama-Tennessee. It also sees some recent dominant forces taking on a rare role as a road underdog (Clemson at Pitt). And, of course, Chip Kelly is facing off with his former program, the Oregon Ducks. There is plenty of intrigue to offer in Week 8 of the college football season.
But which way should you be going against the spread in these games? Let's dig in.
Note: All times are ET and all games are on Saturday, Oct. 23.
Clemson (+3) at Pittsburgh, 3:30 p.m.
Clemson takes on an unfamiliar role as an underdog in ACC play this week, and it is deserved given the results so far this season. Clemson's offense has been missing in action while the Panthers have been living large with quarterback Kenny Pickett stirring up some Heisman conversations. But the Panthers will get a good test from Clemson, who will treat this as a statement game. Clemson 24, Pitt 23
Ole Miss (-9) vs. LSU, 3:30 p.m.
LSU may have found some offense against Florida last weekend, but LSU heads to Oxford having to win another shootout with Matt Corral and Ole Miss. Don't expect the Tigers to keep up the pace in this one. Ole Miss pulls away for a big win in the SEC West. Ole Miss 46, LSU 34
UCLA (-1) vs. Oregon, 3:30 p.m.
A preview of the Pac-12 Championship Game? That's still a possibility. But for now, it's Chip Kelly looking to get the leg up on his old program as UCLA looks to win a big game in the Pac-12. Oregon has been looking vulnerable lately, and the Bruins have the tools to take care of the Ducks in this one. UCLA 27, Oregon 24
Ohio State (-21) at Indiana, 7:30 p.m.
Indiana's tough season is about to get a bit tougher this weekend. The Hoosiers host an Ohio State team that is hitting cruise control in the Big Ten right now, and the Buckeyes aren't about to fall into the trap of looking past the Hoosiers before a big home game next week against Penn State. Buckeyes win this one, big. Ohio State 48, Indiana 20
Notre Dame (-6.5) vs. USC, 7:30 p.m.
One of college football's great rivalries heads to Sout Bend, Indiana, for a chilly mid-October matchup, and USC won't quite be ready for the elements. Notre Dame's defense will set the tone and the Irish will pull away late in the game on their way to a victory over the visiting Trojans. Notre Dame 30, USC 21
