SMU football.

A new era of college football is upon us, and the players are taking advantage.

Multiple SMU players are reportedly sitting out the rest of the season with the intention of preserving redshirt years.

Those same players are reportedly planning on entering the transfer portal.

A new era of college football.

"A development in a new era of college football. Multiple SMU players plan to sit out the rest of season with intention to preserve their redshirt year and enter the transfer portal, multiple SMU staff members with knowledge of the situation said," Joseph Hoyt reports.

SMU isn't the only football program experiencing this new trend.

Boise State's starting quarterback, Hank Bachmeier, announced his intention to transfer just recently. His decision comes after the Broncos fired their offensive coordinator.

This will likely become a trendy wave in the college football world. Expect more players to sit out the rest of the 2022 season with the intention of soon entering the transfer portal.
