Spencer Sanders, Oklahoma State Football

Weekly college football top 25 rankings are a big part of every season, and Athlon Sports will update its top 25 following the games each weekend. The 11th weekend of the 2021 season was headlined by Michigan's win at Penn State, Ole Miss' victory against Texas A&M, Kansas' upset of Texas and Baylor's dominance of Oklahoma in Waco. Georgia, Cincinnati, Alabama and Oregon take the top four spots, with Ohio State at No. 5 and Michigan State at No. 6 in the post-Week 11 top 25 rankings. With the 11th week of the 2021 season officially in the books, here are the top 25 teams in college football:

College Football Top 25 Rankings (After Week 11)

1. Georgia (10-0)
Week 11 Result:
Defeated Tennessee

The Bulldogs were tested early in Knoxville, but the Volunteers were eventually no match for coach Kirby Smart’s squad. The ground game punished Tennessee for 274 yards, and Georgia’s defense limited the Volunteers’ high-powered offense to just 4.6 yards per play.

2. Cincinnati (10-0)
Week 11 Result:
Defeated USF

Quarterback Desmond Ridder accounted for 369 total yards and three overall scores to lift Cincinnati to a 45-28 win over USF. The Bearcats are now 10-0 for just the second time in school history.

3. Alabama (9-1)
Week 11 Result:
Defeated New Mexico State

As expected, the Crimson Tide steamrolled New Mexico State (59-3). Ole Miss’ win over Texas A&M means Alabama can clinch the SEC West title with a victory over Arkansas next Saturday.

4. Oregon (9-1)
Week 11 Result:
Defeated Washington State

The Ducks moved closer to a Pac-12 North title with a 38-24 win over Washington State on Saturday night. Oregon's ground game recorded over 300 yards (306) for the second week in a row, while the defense registered three turnovers and six tackles for a loss.

5. Ohio State (9-1)
Week 11 Result:
Defeated Purdue

Saturday’s win over Purdue showed the Buckeyes still have work to do on defense, but the offense was unstoppable (9.0 yards per snap) in a 59-31 win.

6. Michigan State (9-1)
Week 11 Result:
Defeated Maryland

The Spartans erased last week’s disappointment with a 40-21 victory over Maryland. Quarterback Payton Thorne threw for 287 yards and four scores, while running back Kenneth Walker ran for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Up next: A huge showdown at Ohio State.

7. Michigan (9-1)
Week 11 Result:
Defeated Penn State

Clutch plays by the defense kept Michigan in the game early on, but it was the offense that came through with the Wolverines trailing late in the fourth quarter. Cade McNamara’s touchdown pass to Erick All gave Michigan a 21-17 win over Penn State, allowing coach Jim Harbaugh’s squad to keep playoff hopes alive going into the final two games against Maryland and Ohio State.

8. Notre Dame (9-1)
Week 11 Result:
Defeated Virginia

Virginia wasn’t the same team with quarterback Brennan Armstrong sidelined, but the win was still impressive for the Fighting Irish. Coach Brian Kelly’s team used three touchdown passes from quarterback Jack Coan, and the ground game added 249 yards in an easy 28-3 victory over the Cavaliers.

9. Oklahoma State (9-1)

The Cowboys continue to quietly rack up impressive victories. Coach Mike Gundy’s team used 434 rushing yards and a dominant effort by the defense (243 total yards allowed) in a 63-17 blowout of TCU.

10. Ole Miss (8-2)
Week 11 Result:
Defeated Texas A&M

Matt Corral was steady (24 of 37 for 247 yards), but the real difference for the Rebels in the 29-19 victory over Texas A&M was the play of the ground game (257) and a defense that forced two turnovers and limited the Aggies to just 141 rushing yards.

11. Baylor (8-2)
Week 11 Result:
Defeated Oklahoma

Led by a strong defensive effort, Baylor ended Oklahoma’s perfect season and scored a big 27-14 victory for coach Dave Aranda’s tenure in Waco. The Bears pounded the Sooners for 296 rushing yards, while the defense limited Oklahoma to just 14 points and 260 yards (4.9 per play) and allowed just one play of more than 20 yards.

12. Oklahoma (9-1)
Week 11 Result:
Lost to Baylor

Oklahoma suffered its first loss of the year and took a big hit in the CFB Playoff picture with a 27-14 defeat at Baylor. The Sooners couldn't get their offense going with only 260 yards (4.9 per play), and the defense surrendered 296 yards to Baylor on the ground.
