Ranking the top 25 teams in college football after Week 12
Weekly college football top 25 rankings are a big part of every season, and Athlon Sports will update its top 25 following the games each weekend. Week 12 of the 2019 season was headlined by Georgia's road win at Auburn, Oklahoma's second-half comeback against Baylor, and Alabama's costly victory versus Mississippi State. LSU, Ohio State, Clemson and Georgia take the top four spots once, with Alabama at No. 5 and Oklahoma moving to No. 6 in the post-Week 12 top 25 rankings. With the 12th week of the 2019 season officially in the books, here are the top 25 teams in college football:

1. LSU (10-0)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Ole Miss
No post-Alabama letdown for coach Ed Orgeron’s team in 58-37 win over Ole Miss. However, the Tigers need to tighten up on defense after allowing 402 rushing yards.
2. Ohio State (10-0)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Rutgers
As expected, Ohio State dominated Rutgers (56-21) to move to 10-0. Up next: Back-to-back games against Penn State and Michigan.
3. Clemson (11-0)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Wake Forest
Tigers have won each of their last four games by 45 or more points.
4. Georgia (9-1)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Auburn
Bulldogs clinch third consecutive trip to Atlanta and SEC East title with 21-14 win over Auburn.
5. Alabama (9-1)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Mississippi State
Crimson Tide rebound from loss to LSU with 38-7 win over Mississippi State. However, the victory came at a heavy price, as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is out for the rest of the season due to a hip injury.
6. Oklahoma (9-1)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Baylor
Huge second-half efforts from Jalen Hurts and the defense lead Oklahoma to largest comeback in school history in 34-31 win over Baylor.
7. Oregon (9-1)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Arizona
Ducks are headed back to the Pac-12 Championship Game after clinching the North Division title after 34-6 win over Arizona.
8. Utah (9-1)
Week 12 Result: Defeated UCLA
Tyler Huntley (14 of 18 for 335 yards) was sharp off the bye week, and Utah’s defense held UCLA to just 3.7 yards a play in a 49-3 victory.
9. Minnesota (9-1)
Week 12 Result: Lost to Iowa
The Golden Gophers become the latest ranked team to suffer a road loss in November at Iowa.
10. Penn State (9-1)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Indiana
Nine-minute scoring drive in fourth quarter lifts Nittany Lions to win over Indiana.
11. Florida (9-2)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Missouri
Gators close out SEC play by holding their last two opponents to a combined six points. Florida needs just one victory over its last two games (counting a bowl) to have back-to-back 10-win seasons under Dan Mullen.
12. Baylor (9-1)
Week 12 Result: Lost to Oklahoma
Bears started fast but faded in 34-31 loss to Oklahoma. However, Baylor could get another shot against the Sooners in the Big 12 Championship.
13. Auburn (7-3)
Week 12 Result: Lost to Georgia
Tigers found a spark on offense in the fourth quarter, but the comeback against Georgia fell short with back-to-back failed fourth-down attempts.
14. Wisconsin (8-2)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Nebraska
Jonathan Taylor rushed for at least 200 yards in all three of his appearances against Nebraska.
15. Michigan (8-2)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Michigan State
Jim Harbaugh’s team thoroughly dominated rival Michigan State in 44-10 win on Saturday.
16. Notre Dame (8-2)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Navy
Ian Book tossed five touchdowns, and the defense forced four turnovers to sink Navy in 52-20 victory in South Bend.
17. Memphis (9-1)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Houston
Patrick Taylor’s return adds even more firepower to one of the nation’s top offenses for a key stretch run at a New Year’s Six bowl.
18. Iowa (7-3)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Minnesota
Hawkeyes were outgained (431 to 290), but key stop and a turnover in second half help secure four-point win over Minnesota.
19. Cincinnati (9-1)
Week 12 Result: Defeated USF
It wasn’t pretty, but Bearcats escape Tampa with a 20-17 win over USF.
20. Boise State (9-1)
Week 12 Result: Defeated New Mexico
Broncos forced to start their third quarterback of the season (Jaylon Henderson), but coach Bryan Harsin’s team rolled to an easy 42-9 win over New Mexico.
21. SMU (9-1)
Week 12 Result: Off Week
The Mustangs were off on Saturday and return to action next week on the road against Navy.
22. Appalachian State (9-1)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Georgia State
After falling behind 21-7 in the first quarter, the Mountaineers finished on a 49-6 run to beat Georgia State on Saturday night.
23. Iowa State (6-4)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Texas
A close game finally bounces in favor of the Cyclones with a 23-21 victory over Texas.
24. Indiana (7-3)
Week 12 Result: Lost to Penn State
Hoosiers fell short in Happy Valley but will have another shot at an upset with Michigan coming to Bloomington next week.
25. Virginia Tech (7-3)
Week 12 Result: Defeated Georgia Tech
Hokies enter the top 25 after winning four out of their last five games.
