Weekly college football top 25 rankings are a big part of every season, and Athlon Sports will update its top 25 following the games each weekend. The second weekend of the 2021 season was headlined by Oregon's upset win at Ohio State, Jacksonville State's last-second victory at Florida State and Iowa beating rival Iowa State. Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma and Oregon take the top four spots, with Clemson at No. 5 and Texas A&M at No. 6 in the post-Week 2 top 25 rankings. With the second week of the 2021 season officially in the books, here are the top 25 teams in college football:

College Football Top 25 Rankings (After Week 2)

1. Alabama (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Mercer

As expected, the Crimson Tide took care of business in a 48-14 easy win over Mercer. One concern for coach Nick Saban’s team: Linebacker Will Anderson left early due to a knee injury.

2. Georgia (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated UAB

No JT Daniels? No problem for Georgia’s offense. Stetson Bennett and Carson Beck connected on 14 of 22 throws for 376 yards and six touchdowns to help the Bulldogs average nine yards per play in Saturday’s 56-7 win over UAB.

3. Oklahoma (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Western Carolina

The Sooners were sluggish and sloppy in Week 1 versus Tulane, but coach Lincoln Riley’s team rebounded to cruise to an easy 76-0 win over Western Carolina on Saturday.

4. Oregon (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Ohio State

Oregon’s coaching staff pushed all of the right buttons, while both sides of the ball owned the battle along the line of scrimmage to lift the Ducks to a huge victory at Ohio State (35-28) on Saturday.

5. Clemson (1-1)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated South Carolina State

An easy victory over South Carolina State allowed Clemson an opportunity to work out some of the problems that plagued this offense in the Week 1 loss to Georgia.

6. Texas A&M (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Colorado

It wasn’t pretty, but the Aggies moved to 2-0 thanks to a strong defensive effort and a few timely passes by backup quarterback Zach Calzada to beat Colorado 10-7. The status of starting quarterback Haynes King is uncertain after leaving the game due to a foot injury.

7. Iowa (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Iowa State

Another stellar effort by Iowa’s defense helps earn the program’s sixth consecutive win over Iowa State.

8. Ohio State (1-1)
Week 2 Result:
Lost to Oregon

Through two games, it’s clear Ohio State (as expected) won’t have any trouble putting up points on the scoreboard. However, coach Ryan Day’s squad still has big problems on defense.

9. Cincinnati (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Murray State

The Bearcats started slow but scored 35 points in the second half to put away Murray State 42-7.

10. UCLA (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
No Game

The Bruins were off in Week 2 and return to action next Saturday versus Fresno State.

11. Notre Dame (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Toledo

Late heroics by quarterback Jack Coan helped Notre Dame avoid an upset loss to Toledo. However, the Fighting Irish still have work to do to improve their offensive line and ground game.

12. Penn State (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Ball State

No letdown for the Nittany Lions against a good Ball State team, as coach James Franklin’s squad posted a 44-13 win on Saturday. Up next: A huge showdown against Auburn.

13. Florida (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated USF

The Gators are ready for their SEC opener versus Alabama after crushing USF 42-20 on Saturday. The health of quarterback Anthony Richardson will be a key storyline to monitor this week.

14. Iowa State (1-1)
Week 2 Result:
Lost to Iowa

The Cyclones outgained Iowa 339 to 173, but four turnovers were simply too much to overcome.

15. Miami (1-1)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Appalachian State

It wasn’t easy, but Miami avoided a post-Alabama hangover thanks to a late field goal by Andres Borregales to beat Appalachian State 25-23.

16. Wisconsin (1-1)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Eastern Michigan

The Badgers pounded Eastern Michigan’s defense for 352 rushing yards to win 34-7 on Saturday.

17. Coastal Carolina (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Kansas

The Chanticleers got 215 yards on the ground, quarterback Grayson McCall threw for 245 yards, and the defense stuffed Kansas on downs four times over the last five drives to win 49-22.

18. Ole Miss (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Austin Peay

Quarterback Matt Corral connected on 21 of 33 throws for 281 yards and five scores to propel the Rebels to a blowout win over Austin Peay (54-17).

19. Virginia Tech (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Middle Tennessee

No letdown in Blacksburg. Virginia Tech followed up last week’s win over North Carolina with a solid 35-14 victory against Middle Tennessee.

20. TCU (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated California

The promising trio of quarterback Max Duggan, running back Zach Evans and receiver Quentin Johnson came up big for the Horned Frogs in a 34-32 win over California.

21. Arkansas (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Texas

The Razorbacks gave Texas an early welcome to the SEC with a 40-21 victory on Saturday night. Coach Sam Pittman’s squad thoroughly dominated the Longhorns in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

22. BYU (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Utah

It was a good week for BYU, as the program joined the Big 12 and snapped a nine-game losing streak to rival Utah.

23. North Carolina (1-1)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Georgia State

Sam Howell accounted for 406 total yards and five scores to help North Carolina beat Georgia State 59-17.

24. Michigan (2-0)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated Washington

Wolverines pounded Washington for 343 rushing yards and three scores to beat Washington 31-10.

25. LSU (1-1)
Week 2 Result:
Defeated McNeese State

Beating McNeese State helps LSU remove some of the bad feelings from the Week 1 loss to UCLA, but coach Ed Orgeron’s team still has problems up front and in the running game.
