Weekly college football top 25 rankings are a big part of every season, and Athlon Sports will update its top 25 following the games each weekend. The seventh weekend of the 2018 season featured chaos and upsets throughout the Saturday slate. Alabama retains its No. 1 spot after beating Missouri, followed by Ohio State, Clemson and Notre Dame in the top four. Florida jumps to No. 5 after beating Vanderbilt, followed by LSU at No. 6. Michigan leaps to No. 7 after a dominant win over Wisconsin on Saturday night, with Oregon climbing to No. 11 after knocking off Washington in overtime. Iowa State jumps into the top 25 after beating West Virginia, with USC joining at No. 24 following its win over Colorado. With the seventh week of the 2018 season officially in the books, here are the top 25 teams in college football:

College Football Top 25 Rankings (After Week 7)

1. Alabama (7-0)

Week 7 Result: Defeated Missouri

As expected, Crimson Tide rolls over Missouri. Injuries to Tua Tagovailoa, Henry Ruggs and DeVonta Smith don’t appear to be a long-term issue.

2. Ohio State (7-0)

Week 7 Result: Defeated Minnesota

Dwayne Haskins throws for more than 400 yards again, but issues remain for the Buckeyes with the ground attack and on defense.

3. Clemson (6-0)

Week 7 Result: Bye Week

Clemson was off on Saturday and returns to action in Week 8 against NC State.

4. Notre Dame (7-0)

Week 7 Result: Defeated Pitt

Ian Book’s steady play helps Notre Dame survive Pitt’s upset bid.

5. Florida (6-1)

Week 7 Result: Defeated Vanderbilt

Gators overcome slow start to beat Vanderbilt 37-27. Loss by Georgia adds intrigue to the annual showdown in Jacksonville.

6. LSU (6-1)

Week 7 Result: Defeated Georgia

Tigers rebound from last week’s loss to dominate Georgia and stay alive for the SEC West title.

7. Michigan (6-1)

Week 7 Result: Defeated Wisconsin

Jim Harbaugh’s team seems to be hitting its stride at the right time. Led by a dominant defense and an efficient offense, Michigan handled Wisconsin 38-13 on Saturday night.

8. Texas (6-1)

Week 7 Result: Defeated Baylor

No post-Oklahoma letdown for Texas in 23-17 win over Baylor. Injury to quarterback Sam Ehlinger doesn’t appear to be a long-term concern, but backup Shane Buechele is a capable replacement if the sophomore misses any games.

9. Georgia (6-1)

Week 7 Result: Lost to LSU

Bulldogs completely dominated in loss to LSU. Playoff hopes for coach Kirby Smart’s team are on life support.

10. Oklahoma (5-1)

Week 7 Result: Bye Week

The Sooners were off in Week 7 and return to action next Saturday at TCU.

11. Oregon (5-1)

Week 7 Result: Defeated Washington

Ducks emerge as the Pac-12 title favorite after overtime win against Washington.

12. UCF (6-0)

Week 7 Result: Defeated Memphis

Defense leads second-half rally against Memphis to keep the Knights’ quest for another perfect season alive.

Week 7 Result: Bye Week

The Wolfpack did not play in Week 7 and returns to action in Week 8 for a huge ACC matchup against Clemson.

21. Wisconsin (4-2)

Week 7 Result: Lost to Michigan

Wisconsin’s passing game struggled mightily against Michigan’s standout defense in Saturday night’s loss. Coach Paul Chryst’s team still has road trips to Penn State and Northwestern left this season.

22. Texas Tech (4-2)

Week 7 Result: Defeated TCU

Thursday night’s win over TCU (and a solid 4-2 start) should remove coach Kliff Kingsbury from the hot seat.

23. San Diego State (5-1)

Week 7 Result: Defeated Air Force

Rocky Long’s team has won four games by seven points or less this season.

24. USC (4-2)

Week 7 Result: Defeated Colorado

After beating Colorado on Saturday night, the Week 8 road trip to Utah looms large in the Pac-12 South title picture for USC.

25. Mississippi State (4-2)

Week 7 Result: Bye Week

Mississippi State was off in Week 7 and plays at LSU this Saturday.
