With Week 13 of the 2019 season in the books, it’s time to take a look at the best of the best and honor some of the top performances. Each week, Athlon Sports will highlight some of the top performers in college football with its weekly awards section. Here’s a look at Athlon Sports’ picks for the offensive, defensive, coordinator, team and freshman from Week 13:

College Football Week 13 Awards

Offensive Player of the Week: Kedon Slovis, QB, USC

Slovis connected on 37 of 47 throws for 515 yards and four touchdowns in USC’s win over UCLA.

Defensive Player of the Week: Chase Young, DE, Ohio State

Young recorded nine tackles (four for a loss), three sacks and two forced fumbles in Ohio State’s win over Penn State.

Coordinator of the Week (Offense): Ivin Jasper, Navy

The Midshipmen recorded 540 yards (6.1 a play), converted 6 of 17 third-down attempts, had zero turnovers and scored 35 points in a 35-28 win over SMU. The 15 points scored by Navy in the fourth quarter helped secure the victory and keep coach Ken Niumatalolo’s team in the mix for the AAC West Division title.

Coordinator of the Week (Defense): Bud Foster, Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech’s defense pitched another shutout in Foster’s final game in Blacksburg. The Hokies held Pitt to just eight first downs, 177 total yards (3.2 per play), three third-down conversions on 15 attempts and did not allow a drive longer than 37 yards.

Team of the Week: FIU

The Panthers pulled off the biggest upset of Week 13 by beating Miami 30-24 in Marlins Park on Saturday night. FIU managed only 297 total yards but took advantage of three turnovers and limited the Hurricanes to just one third-down conversion. The Panthers also used two fourth-down stops in the first half to pitch a shutout through the first two quarters. Miami scored on four of its final five drives, but FIU’s touchdown with less than two minutes left secured the victory.

Freshman of the Week (Offense): Jayden Daniels, QB, Arizona State

Daniels threw for 408 yards and three touchdowns over 22 completions to lead Arizona State to an upset win over Oregon.

Freshman of the Week (Defense): Ivan Pace, LB, Miami (Ohio)

Pace recorded six tackles (six for a loss), one pass breakup and six sacks in the RedHawks’ victory over Akron.
