David Pollack Predicts College Football Game With Major Playoff Implications
The final week of the regular season for most teams has arrived, bringing with it several games that have significant College Football Playoff implications.
One notable matchup is a long-standing rivalry that is making a return after more than a decade. This game features the No. 3 Texas Longhorns (10-1) facing off against the No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies (8-3). The last time these two teams competed against each other was in 2011, when Texas won with a walk-off field goal.
This time, the game will decide which team advances to the SEC Championship Game to face the No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs (9-2), with an opportunity to secure an automatic bid. David Pollack discussed the matchup on his YouTube channel, "David Pollack College Football."
He believes the Longhorns will win again, primarily because they have a more complete defense.
"I lean Texas because I think their defense is more complete," Pollack said. "Texas' secondary is really, really good. A&M's secondary scares me. Their lack of tackling that you talked about and big plays that they will give up."
The Longhorns' defense is impressive, ranking No. 2 in total defense, No. 2 in pass defense, No. 13 in rush defense and No. 3 in scoring defense.
In contrast, the Aggies rank No. 56 in total defense, No. 79 in pass defense, No. 41 in rush defense, and No. 38 in scoring defense.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Texas is favored to win the game by less than a touchdown. The Aggies benefit from one of the best home environments in college football.
Texas and Texas A&M will face off on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be on ABC.
