David Pollack Puts College Football Playoff Contender on Upset Alert
The final week of the regular season has arrived for most teams, which means several will face off against their most hated rivals. Notable matchups include the No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs (9-2) against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (7-4), the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes (10-1) taking on the Michigan Wolverines (6-5), and the No. 13 Alabama Crimson Tide (8-3) going up against the Auburn Tigers (5-6).
Another big rivalry game with College Football Playoff implications is between the No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers (9-2) and the Vanderbilt Commodores (6-5). If the Volunteers win, they will likely secure a spot in the College Football Playoff for the first time in the program's history.
Meanwhile, the Commodores would relish the opportunity to thwart their rivals' aspirations.
David Pollack discussed the game on his YouTube channel, "David Pollack College Football." He mentioned that Tennessee might be on upset alert because of Vanderbilt's style of play.
"I think with the play action with Vandy, with the style of play they play, running that clock down, this could be a fun game late in the game if they can get stops and possess the ball," Pollack said.
Pollack admits that Vanderbilt may struggle to stop Tennessee due to the Volunteers' speed. FanDuel Sportsbook seems to support this view, favoring the Volunteers by 10.5 points.
However, Vanderbilt has been in several big games this season. Earlier this year, the Commodores lost to then-No. 7 Missouri Tigers on the road 30-27 in overtime. They then beat then-No.1 Alabama 40-35. They also played the No. 5 then-Texas Longhorns and lost 27-24.
Tennessee won't have it easy, but it must win to secure a playoff berth. The Volunteers will face the Commodores at noon ET on Saturday on ABC.
