ESPN Announces Top College Football Student Section Of The 2022 Season

The most showstopping play of the 2022 college football season wasn't made by anyone in uniform.

Rather, by the Tennessee student section.

After Tennessee's 52-49 takedown of Alabama on Oct. 15, Tennessee fans stormed Neyland Stadium. More than 100,000 fans flooded the field in celebration of breaking the 15-game losing streak to the Tide.

They didn't leave empty handed, either. They took a piece of history — the goalposts — with them.

The dedication and rowdiness of the Volunteers earned them the Taco Bell Live Mas Student Section of the Year Award.

Tennessee's student section beat out UCF, Washington and Ohio State for the honor.

"It should come as a surprise to absolutely nobody that the winner of the Taco Bell Live Mas Student Section of the Year Award is the Rocky Top rowdies of Tennessee," ESPN's Christine Williamson said. "They certainly were rowdy this season. We were on the road with them twice this year. We were on the field for that Alabama-Tennessee game."

Tennessee fans answered college football's burning question: How many students does it take to tear down a goalpost?

Answer: Dozens and dozens of thousands.
