ESPN Didn't Cut Audio Despite Chant From 'College GameDay' Crowd

On Saturday, ESPN's "College GameDay" was in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, ahead of the Week 11 college football slate, where the No. 15 LSU Tigers hosted the No. 11 Alabama Crimson Tide.

Early in the broadcast, Pat McAfee fired up the LSU crowd by leading them into a controversial chant. Known as "Neck," the chant erupted after McAfee subtly encouraged them to join in.

All McAfee had to do was turn to the crowd and shout, “Heyooo."

LSU fans understood the assignment, responding with their infamous NSFW line. Not once, but twice, McAfee ramped up the chant, much to the crowd’s delight.

McAfee later posted a video of himself leading the chant on social media with the caption, "I've been trying to figure out all morning... What are they saying?"

Warning: The following video contains language that some may find offensive.

For obvious reasons, the song, originally a cover by Dem Franchize Boyz of Cameo's 1982 hit "Talkin' Out the Side of Your Neck," has been banned in Tiger Stadium since 2010.

The "Neck" chant has become a huge part of LSU’s gameday vibe. Even with the ban, fans keep it going, making it a big moment during major games at Tiger Stadium.

While some find it controversial, the chant has become a tradition. It adds to the intense atmosphere that makes Tiger Stadium tough for opponents.

Both teams are fresh off a bye week and facing a likely elimination game from College Football Playoff contention. While LSU and Alabama sit at 6-2 on the season, the Crimson Tide head into the matchup as a 2.5-point favorite, per ESPN BET
