ESPN's Chris Fowler Crushes Michigan For 'Embarrassing' Non-Conference Schedule

Chris Fowler talks with Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit

Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines apparently weren't up for any challenges in the non-conference portion of their schedule this year. Michigan is 3-0 to start the year, but wins over Colorado State, Hawaii and UConn are about as unimpressive as it gets.

ESPN's Chris Fowler is crushing the Wolverines for their lackluster non-conference schedule.

Here's a bad trend for a sport that's already way too top-heavy: Did you know the top-10 teams last week combined to score more points than any week in history? The margin of victory: the biggest in history. Way too many September mismatches, some embarrassing non-conference schedules... Michigan, we're looking at you.

The bad news for Michigan is now it doesn't have much room for error the rest of this season. The Wolverines' conference schedule isn't exactly tough. Penn State and Ohio State are the only ranked opponents on the team's schedule.

One slip-up could result in Michigan being out of the College Football Playoff.

The lesson for the rest of college football? Schedule tougher non-conference opponents. It's better for the sport, fans and can help at the end of the season in regards to the postseason.
