A catfishing scheme may have changed the way ratings are done forever.
Blake Carringer, a fictitious offensive lineman, basically shows up out of nowhere on Twitter claiming to have received offers from Georgia, Alabama and many people bought it hook, line, and sinker. Somehow Carringer starts to become listed as a three-star, not bad for a fake profile.
The picture used for the "recruit" was actually that of Corey Stephens, a 2017 Arizona State signee.
According to SB Nation, those at 247Sports claimed it was Rivals doing, but either way it's going to lead to a few tweaks with the way they do things.
