Fans Are Furious With Targeting Call In LSU-Mississippi State Game

Targeting is one of the biggest judgment calls for referees in the college football game. And during Saturday's LSU-Mississippi State game, the officiating crew was faced with one of these difficult decisions.

Mississippi State safety Shawn Preston Jr. delivered a huge hit on LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels during the third quarter.

There was no helmet-to-helmet contact, but the officiating crew decided to call targeting because Preston led with the crown of his helmet into Daniels' chest.

Take a look at the hit here:

College football fans aren't happy with the call.

"Chefs kiss tackle. Naturally, the NCAA has a problem with it," one wrote.

"This was confirmed for targeting. Unreal, simply unreal," another added.

"It’s called a football hit," another said.

"Confirmed for targeting is insane. just pathetic as always," another wrote.

LSU leads Mississippi State 34-7 to start the fourth quarter.
