Football Games on TV Today
UAB at Miami, 8 p.m. on ACC Network
The Blazers started their season with a 45-35 victory over FCS member Central Arkansas last Saturday, but will face a different challenge against the Hurricanes. Miami is hoping to get things off on the right foot, especially considering the Canes' last game against a Conference USA opponent did not go well. Miami got shut out by Louisiana Tech 14-0 in the Independence Bowl to cap a disappointing 6-7 debut for head coach Manny Diaz.
Houston at Kansas City, 8:20 p.m. on NBC
The Chiefs open their title defense at home against the Texans, a team they beat on their way to winning the Super Bowl. Houston jumped out to a 24-0 lead in the Divisional Round of the AFC playoffs only to watch Kansas City score 41 straight points to turn it into a 51-31 rout. Both Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson got paid this offseason and will be in the "Thursday Night Football" spotlight as the NFL kicks things off following a coronavirus-impacted offseason. How much rust will either team show with no preseason games?
