The Nebraska football community has received heartbreaking news this Monday afternoon.

Mark Pelini, a former Nebraska offensive lineman and the nephew of Bo Pelini, has died at 31.

Mark was in a car crash on the Indiana Toll Road on Sunday that left him and two others dead at the scene.

A heartbreaking development for the Pelini and Nebraska football family.

Mark Pelini began his career as a walk-on in 2010. He eventually became the team's starting center by 2014.

Some of Mark's former teammates have shared memories of Mark on Twitter today.

"1 of my favorite memories of Mark Pelini was driving to Vegas after the Holiday Bowl & him puking all down the side of my whip so we pulled up to my pops crib for a pit stop. He hosed the car down, changed his shirt & hopped back in like nothing happened. Rest Easy Brother," said Josh Mitchell.

"Woke up this morning wishing I didn’t hear what I heard.. Rest Easy to my very first center in college!! Love you big guy!!" said Tommy Armstrong Jr.

We wish the Pelini family all the best during this terribly difficult time.
