Georgia Tech middle linebacker Beau Hankins has announced on Twitter that he is leaving the program.
Hankins, a junior, did not start in the Yellow Jackets' loss to Duke on Saturday nor has he started in the past two games, totaling only three tackles on the year. He had played in all 14 games last season and appeared in eight in 2013 as a redshirt freshman.
Hankins is the second linebacker to leave as Anthony Harrell transferred to Florida in the offseason. Harrell and Hankins were competing for the starting linebacker position in the spring.
With both men gone, senior Tyler Marcordes will serve as the middle linebacker when the Jackets go to a 4-3 set. Georgia Tech will host ACC Coastal foe North Carolina on Saturday.
