Heisman Trophy Rankings: Travis Hunter Expands Lead With Two-Way Excellence
A few of the top Heisman Trophy contenders were on bye last week, but odds-on favorite Travis Hunter was in action. The two-way star strengthened his case to take home college football’s most prestigious individual award.
Hunter’s closest competition, Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, shined in a comeback win over San Jose State but didn’t do enough to bridge the gap. With the regular season winding down, it’s looking more and more like a two-horse race for the Heisman Trophy between two non-quarterbacks.
Oregon signal-caller Dillon Gabriel hurt his Heisman stock as the Ducks narrowly avoided disaster over the weekend while other contenders, like Miami’s Cam Ward, Indiana’s Kurtis Rourke and Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart were idle.
