Every few years it seems Kirk Ferentz finds something to work with that turns into a somewhat magic run by the Iowa Hawkeyes. Last year may have been just that, although an undefeated regular season ended unceremoniously with losses to Michigan State in the Big Ten Championship Game and a whopper of a loss to Christian McCaffrey and Stanford in the Rose Bowl. But a new season is here and Iowa will get a chance to prove last season was not a fluke.
Unless it was.
Iowa returns some key players like C.J. Beathard and Matt VandeBerg on offense and Desmond King on defense among the 15 total starters that are back, but the schedule also throws some challenges Iowa’s way that will make a second straight undefeated regular season a tad difficult to come by.
