Kirk Herbstreit Names Best Offensive Player In College Football
ESPN "College GameDay" analyst Kirk Herbstreit revealed his pick for the best offensive player in college football following the end of the regular season.
While there are a few big-time names to choose from, such as quarterbacks Cam Ward and Dillon Gabriel, who are both Heisman finalists, Herbstreit veered away from picking a signal-caller.
The ESPN college football analyst named Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty as the Offensive Player of the Year.
Jeanty led the Broncos to a 12-1 record during the 2024 college football season. Boise State heads into the College Football Playoff with a first-round bye, listed as the No. 3 team in the bracket.
The 5-foot-9 running back also led the Broncos to a Mountain West Conference title over the UNLV Rebels.
During the 2024 college football season, Jeanty recorded 29 touchdowns and 2,497 yards on 344 carries. He also added one touchdown and 116 yards through the air.
Jeanty led the Mountain West program to a first-round bye, with the Broncos offense solely relying on the elite running back week after week.
Heading into Dec. 14, the Heisman Trophy ceremony, Jeanty is listed as the No. 2 candidate to win the prestigious award (+1000) behind Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter (-2500), per USA Today.
