Kirk Herbstreit Predicts Huge College Football Upset on Saturday
Kirk Herbstreit and the ESPN "College GameDay" crew were in Columbus, Ohio, in Week 14. The panel reviewed some of the biggest games of rivalry weekend, revealing their predictions at the end of the show.
While discussing some major matchups from Week 14 like Texas versus Texas A&M, Michigan versus Ohio State and Miami versus Syracuse, Herbstreit predicted an upset to occur.
He believes the Syracuse Orange will defeat the Miami Hurricanes, despite UM heading into the game as an 11-point favorite, per ESPN BET.
Herbstreit thinks the Orange's offense behind Kyle McCord will outplay Cam Ward and the Hurricanes on Saturday.
"Miami's quarterback Cam Ward has found a way to bring his team out," Herbstreit said. "He's going to be tested today. Quarterback duel. McCord outduels Cam Ward. Syracuse at home, wins."
The Orange head into the game averaging 31.7 points and 454 yards per game.
Syracuse stands at 8-3 on the season, with a 4-3 record in the ACC. They're headed into Week 14 on a two-game win streak, while winning three of their last four games.
McCord has been phenomenal in his first year with the Orange, after transferring from Ohio State in the offseason. He is averaging 358.7 yards per game with a 65.3 completion percentage.
Herbstreit believes the ACC matchup will be a shoot-out in Week 14, and he's picking McCord and the Orange offense to win the race and pull off the upset.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
