Look: Joel Klatt Is 'Shocked' By Heisman Trophy Finalists Snubs

The list of Heisman finalists were released Monday. This led to banter and debate surrounding which players should have been in contention, and whether certain finalists should have been omitted from the list.

One oft-mentioned snub from the list was Tennessee's Hendon Hooker. Valued voices in the football world such as former Heisman winner Robert Griffin III stumped for Hooker's involvement.

Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt took things in a slightly different direction. As opposed to pointing out just one player who was snubbed, Klatt had a list. According to Klatt, several players would have been worthier finalists than Stetson Bennett of the Georgia Bulldogs.

In a tweet that will assuredly stir the pot, Klatt wrote: "Congratulations to the Heisman Trophy finalists!! You all had great seasons...That being said I am shocked Stetson [Bennett] is a finalist over Hendon Hooker, Michael Penix, Bo Nix, DTR [Dorian Thompson-Robinson], Drake Maye or even Blake Corum for that matter...All of whom had better seasons than Bennett."

Ouch. To rub salt into Bennett's wound, Klatt wasn't finished there. In a subsequent tweet, the Fox Sports personality tacked on several other players he ranked above the UGA product.

"Bijan Robinson, Chase Brown, Zach Charbonnet, Marvin Harrison Jr....and others," Klatt tweeted. "Again, Bennett is a good player and perfect for Georgia...But hardly a Heisman finalist."

Bennett may suffer some hurt feelings as a result of Klatt's pointed critiques, but he won't have much time to reflect on them. Bennett and UGA have a Peach Bowl showdown looming against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Dec. 31.

With a standout showing, perhaps Bennett may make Klatt eat his words.
