Lane Kiffin has officially welcomed Hugh Freeze back to the SEC this Wednesday.

The Ole Miss head coach, recently signed to a six-year extension, fired off a witty tweet early this morning at the new Auburn coach that caught the attention of many college football fans.

Quoting a Hugh Freeze comment made yesterday about the Auburn job being better than the Ole Miss role, Kiffin responded by saying "I would tweet at you but I guess you aren’t allowed to respond by [Auburn Football] now."

Kiffin's jab is a clear reference to a bevy of reports earlier this week that claimed Freeze would lose access to his social media as a result of taking the Auburn job, of which Freeze has denied.

"@OleMissFB I would tweet at you but I guess you aren’t allowed to respond by @AuburnFootball now," Kiffin said Wednesday.

Several different sources made the claim that Freeze would need to terminate his social media accounts after being hired at Auburn.

Freeze, well known for his questionable history on twitter, vehemently denied the rumors during his introductory press conference on Tuesday.

"No, that's not accurate," Freeze said in relation to one report about giving up control of his social media. "How could you in this day and time? I think there may be some wisdom in it though."

To add validity to Freeze's comments Tuesday, a check of the Auburn coach's twitter page will show he's been active recently. Freeze retweeted a post from the Auburn Football page yesterday and has sent multiple tweets since being hired on November 28th.

Lane Kiffin's shot at the new Auburn coach Wednesday sets the stage for a highly-anticipated matchup between the two programs next season.

Ole Miss will travel to Auburn on October 21st, 2023 in the first SEC clash between the two coaches.
