Mississippi State (2-0) has looked impressive in its first two non-conference matchups this season against Memphis and Arizona. LSU (1-1) ran into a roadblock in Week 1 as it suffered a crushing loss to Florida State in New Orleans. Tigers were able to bounce back resoundingly by crushing FCS Southern 65-17.

Saturday will be the first meeting between LSU head coach Brian Kelly and Mississippi State head coach Mike Leach. Last year, the Tigers defeated the Bulldogs, 28-25, in Starkville. LSU leads the overall series with Mississippi State, which dates back to 1896, 76-36-3.
