There are two Wild Card games on today
The first weekend of the NFL playoffs wraps up on Sunday, Jan. 6 with a pair of intriguing wild-card football games. The first is a regular-season matchup that took place just two weeks ago, while the second features the defending Super Bowl champions on the road as the underdog against a young, hungry team.
The action kicks off on Sunday with the Los Angeles Chargers and Baltimore Ravens meeting for the second time in three weeks. The AFC North champion Ravens defeated the Chargers 22-10 out in Los Angeles in that game and now get the team that tied for best record in the conference on their home field. Wild Card Weekend concludes with Philadelphia in Chicago as the defending Super Bowl champions look to keep their momentum going (and hopes of a possible repeat alive) against the NFC North champion Bears.
So if you're wondering, "What football games are on today?" know this: There are two scheduled for today, Sunday, Jan. 6.
1:05 p.m. ET on CBS — M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore
Why You Should Watch: These two teams just met two weeks ago in a game the Ravens dominated out in Los Angeles, beating the Chargers 22-10. Los Angeles did a good job of containing Baltimore rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson on the ground, but the Ravens still ran for 159 yards while he threw for a season-high 202. The Chargers' offense struggled mightily, turning it over three times and managing just 51 yards on the ground. Will it be more of the same this time?
Spread: Ravens -2.5
4:40 p.n. ET on NBC — Soldier Field in Chicago
Why You Should Watch: Philadelphia needed a three-game winning streak (and a little help from some other teams, including Chicago) just to get into the playoffs and now the defending Super Bowl champions find themselves in a similar situation — as the underdog with Nick Foles at quarterback. The young Bears are eager to prove they belong and that starts with quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who is playing in his first playoff game. Can Chicago's defense lead the way to victory once again or will the Eagles' experience and championship pedigree help them pull off the upset?
Spread: Bears -6.5
