College football is deep with great running backs this upcoming season. One of the best in NCAA football right now is the Buckeyes' J.K. Dobbins.
In Athlon Sports' Top 60 Running Back Rankings, the Ohio State player is listed at No. 8.
Dobbins comes in just ahead of Oklahoma running backs Kennedy Brooks/Trey Sermon and just behind Vanderbilt's Ke’Shawn Vaughn.
Here's why: In addition to breaking in new quarterback Justin Fields, first-year coach Ryan Day has to get Ohio State’s ground game back on track after this unit averaged only 4.2 yards per rush in 2018. With Mike Weber off to the NFL, Dobbins will handle the bulk of the carries for the Buckeyes. After rushing for 1,403 yards and seven touchdowns in 2017, Dobbins ran for 1,053 yards and 10 scores last fall. The Texas native also has 48 catches for 420 yards and three touchdowns over the last two years.
