Ohio State Football Makes Caleb Downs Announcement Ahead of Michigan Game
The No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes are heading into the biggest game of the regular season—at least in the eyes of those in Columbus. There has always been intense rivalry between the Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines, and this year is no different.
As the final week of the regular season approaches, it’s also been a week full of major announcements, with finalists for several prestigious awards being revealed across the college football landscape.
On Thanksgiving Thursday, Ohio State football announced that star defensive back and punt returner Caleb Downs has been named a finalist for The Lott Trophy, awarded to the defensive "Impact" Player of the Year. Downs, a key player for the Buckeyes’ defense all season, will once again play a pivotal role on Saturday against the Wolverines.
Caleb Downs was also named a finalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award and the Jim Thorpe Award, further cementing his place in Ohio State history. He is building an enduring legacy at one of the premier programs known for producing elite defensive backs, with a track record that continues to shine in the NFL.

When Downs announced he was transferring from Alabama to Ohio State, everyone knew the Buckeyes were getting a game-changer. He has certainly lived up to the hype, but as always, there’s still work to be done in Columbus.
