There have been whispers in sports media over the past couple days about a potential first-round draft pick being accused of rape.
According to TMZ Sports, the person in question is Ohio State's Gareon Conley. The Buckeyes cornerback has been accused of raping a 23-year-old woman in a hotel room in Cleveland, a claim he vehemently denies. Shortly after the news broke, several of his Ohio State teammates tweeted their support for him.
It's unclear if the accusations will have a huge impact on Thursday's draft, but it's never a good sign when this kind of news surfaces.
UPDATE: Conley has released a statement to Pro Football Talk:
"The allegations against me concerning the night of April 8/9 that have recently been reported in multiple media outlets are completely false," Conley said. "I did not commit a crime and have not been charged with a crime. I pride myself on doing things the right way on and off the field... These allegations appear to be an attempt to ruin this once-in-a-lifetime experience for me and my family.... I am completely confident that as facts actually come out my name will be cleared."
