Jalen Milroe Struggles As Oklahoma Shocks Alabama

It was a night to forget for the Crimson Tide and their star quarterback.

Alabama had a chance to strengthen their College Football Playoff case and take another step closer to an SEC title game bert Saturday night in Norman, but Oklahoma had other plans, and it started with shutting down Jalen Milroe.

The unranked Sooners shocked the No. 7 Crimson Tide with a 24-3 victory, picking off Milroe three times and making life miserable for the star quarterback all night long.

Milroe struggled reading the field for much of the night, as evidenced by his second interception of the night, which ended up going the other way for a touchdown that put the game out of reach:

Milroe finished the night by completing just 11 of his 26 passes for 164 yards and no touchdowns to balance out his trio of turnovers. Typically a big-play machine as a runner, Milroe managed just seven yards rushing on 15 attempts.

Brent Venables' defense was dominant for all four quarters, sending the home fans happy with a statement win over a top-10 conference opponent, while defeat could knock Bama out of playoff contention with just next week's rivalry matchup against Auburn left on their schedule.

This kind of performance could also have a damaging impact on Milroe's stock looking ahead to the 2025 NFL Draft. There were already some issues with his consistency as a passer, but Milroe had previously been able to offset those flaws with his game-breaking ability as a runner. His struggles with decision-making and accuracy Saturday night, as well as the inability to make plays on the ground, wasn't a recipe for boosting his value as a draft prospect.

This year's quarterback class still has more questions than answers, and though he's looked like a dynamic prospect at times this season, this is the kind of film that could give NFL decision-makers pause about his ability to be a franchise passer worthy of a top-10 pick.
