In just the second week of the College Football Playoff rankings, we already have a change at the top. Granted, we knew either LSU or Alabama would tumble out of the top four, but the manner in which the Crimson Tide dispatched the Tigers last weekend was pretty outrageous.
As we head into Week 11, we get another slate of game ripe with OUTRAGEOUS possibilities. Contenders will be challenged, and the road to the College Football Playoff will take more significant turns this weekend.
Outrageous College Football Predictions for Week 11
Texas Tech routs Texas
Both teams are reeling, having lost two in a row. Be that as it may, the Longhorns have fallen off a taller ladder. Now they'll face an unrelenting Texas Tech offense under the lights in Lubbock. Look for a big night from Red Raiders quarterback Jett Duffey. He stepped in and performed well last week against Oklahoma when starter Alan Bowman went down. He'll do the same this week and be the catalyst that leads Texas Tech to a huge win.
Mississippi State takes Bama to overtime
Alabama is the Ivan Drago of the 2018 season. The program is a machine, destroying everything in its path and leaving no hope for anyone. In comes Mississippi State, looking to play the role of Rocky Balboa. Quarterback Nick Fitzgerald and the Bulldogs will trade haymakers with the Tide all afternoon. They'll fall just short of shocking the sports universe, but in the process, they'll reveal the blueprint for beating the unbeatable.
Oklahoma State wins BEDLAM!
The high of beating Texas faded away quickly when the Cowboys were upset by Baylor last week. Chalk that loss up to Oklahoma State looking ahead to this game. Records mean nothing when these two meet, and now Mike Gundy's group has the opportunity to derail a Sooner dream season. Neither defense is great, so expect a ton of points as usual in this one. The difference will be a couple of big touchdowns from Oklahoma State receiver Tylan Wallace as the Cowboys eliminate the Sooners from College Football Playoff contention.
Michigan State beats Ohio State by double digits
The Buckeyes probably should have lost last weekend to Nebraska. The only thing the Huskers were missing down the stretch was a more capable offensive line. The Spartans have that, along with a stingy defense that will slow down Dwayne Haskins and the Ohio State offense. Look for Michigan State to control the tempo by pounding the ball on the ground against an Ohio State front seven that continues to struggle in the absence of Nick Bosa. Mark Dantonio's club will pull away in the fourth quarter and cruise to a sound win.
Boston College stuns Clemson
The story in this one will be running back AJ Dillon and the Boston College offensive line against Clemson's elite front four. Look for the Eagles to stick win the run all night and slowly wear down the Tiger defense. When Clemson has the ball, look for a raucous Chestnut Hill crowd to throw off timing and communication for the Tigers, while an underrated Boston College defense steals a couple of possessions via turnovers. The night will end with Eagles fans rushing the field and another casualty in the top four of the College Football Playoff rankings.
*Remember, "outrageous" can be defined as “wildly exaggerated or improbable,” and “very bold, unusual, and startling.” These are "outrageous" predictions and should be treated as such.
