Outrageous College Football Predictions for Week 14

The 2020 college football season is barreling toward the finish. Teams are jockey for position, looking for berths in conference championship games and possibly securing spots in the College Football Playoff.

As is the case every season, the 2020 college football campaign has provided us with some pretty outrageous outcomes every week. The only exception would be at the top of the College Football Playoff rankings, which have remained largely unchanged.

That will change after this weekend.

Here are the OUTRAGEOUS predictions for Week 14 of the 2020 college football season.

Outrageous College Football Predictions for Week 14

Illinois upsets Iowa

Both of these teams are coming off wins over Nebraska. Iowa struggled with the Cornhuskers on Black Friday, while Illinois rolled to a blowout win two weeks ago. The Illini win over Nebraska looked like a "get right" game for Lovie Smith's team, while Iowa's win exposed a flaw. Hawkeye quarterback Spencer Petras is young and inconsistent. If you take away the Hawkeye rushing attack and force him to try to make plays with his arm, you've got a really good chance of beating Iowa. Illinois has the ability to slow down Iowa's groud game just like Nebraska did, and the Illini have a good enough offense to outscore Kirk Ferentz's team. Look for Illinois to pull off the stunner.

Kansas gets a win

Props to the Jayhawks for putting on the pads every week and competing. It hasn't been pretty, and they are probably the worst team in the Power 5 ranks. That said, they are still a Power 5 team full of scholarship athletes capable of playing at a competitive level. They'll take on Texas Tech this weekend -- a team that probably looks at the Jayhawks as a bye week. The problem is, Texas Tech isn't good enough to overlook anyone. Look for Kansas to lean on freshman running back Amauri Pesek-Hickson to pound the ball on the ground, control the tempo, and keep the Red Raider offense off the field en route to its first win of 2020.

Coastal Carolina knocks off BYU

There has been a lot of chatter as to whether or not BYU deserves a shot at the College Football Playoff. This weekend, the Cougars will have another opportunity to state their case. They are double-digit favorites over what might be the best team on their schedule in Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers might be the most underrated 9-0 team in the history of college football. They have the talent and speed to give BYU problems. Perhaps more important, they get stronger as the game goes on. They have the second-highest positive point differential (+55) in the fourth quarter of any team in the country. Look for Coastal Carolina to keep this close through the first three quarters before pulling away late.

Michigan State shocks Ohio State

The whole world is focused on whether or not the Buckeyes can add games to their schedule, both to qualify for the Big Ten Championship Game and to bolster it for the College Football Playoff committee. Nobody seems to be paying much attention to the fact they'll be traveling to East Lansing to take on one of the most unpredictable teams in the country in Michigan State. Mel Tucker has the Spartans ready for a dog fight each and every week. Michigan State shocked everyone last weekend by taking down Northwestern. The Spartans have the confidence and swagger to knock off an Ohio State team that has not been overly impressive and may not be totally focused on this matchup. I like Michgian State to stun the world and throw a wrench into the College Football Playoff rankings.

Remember, "outrageous" can be defined as "wildly exaggerated or improbable," and "very bold, unusual, and startling." These are "outrageous" predictions and should be treated as such.
