Outrageous College Football Predictions for Week 3

Look for a shakeup in the top 10 after this week's outrageous results

After a Week 2 where most college football games pretty much went chalk, we approach a Week 3 ripe with outrageous possibilities. Injuries, early-season road trips and hangovers from last weekend's performances will all impact some of the most high-profile game this weekend.

Look for a slate of OUTRAGEOUS* outcomes to cause havoc in the top ten of the major polls.

Outrageous College Football Predictions for Week 3

San Diego State upsets Arizona State

The Sun Devils are flying high after a 2-0 start, fresh off a program-defining win over Michigan State. The honeymoon won't last long, as they'll travel to hostile territory and face a San Diego State team with the talent to a man to keep pace with Herm Edwards' bunch. Look for a big day from Aztecs running back Juwan Washington — who has topped 150 yards on the ground in both games this season — to be the catalyst for a San Diego State upset.

Troy takes down Nebraska

The Cornhuskers lost more than just the game against Colorado last weekend — they also lost their quarterback for an undisclosed amount of time. The injury to Adrian Martinez means walk-on Andrew Bunch will get the start against Troy. There is a chance Martinez will play, but his mobility will be severely limited. Regardless of who is under center, the Huskers will have a hard time dealing with an underrated Trojan pass rush that will render the dynamic Nebraska offense one-dimensional. Look for Troy to win a lower-scoring game than what many are predicting.

LSU beats Auburn by two scores

Auburn has made its name early on with that win over Washington to start the year. LSU might be a better team than the Huskies, and Auburn is about to find that out. Look for the LSU's front seven to frustrate Jarett Stidham all day, throwing off the timing of the Auburn offense. From there, quarterback Joe Burrow and running back Nick Brossette will control the tempo on the ground for Ed Orgeron's club en route to a sound win.

Utah defeats Washington

The Utes had quite the scare last week against Northern Illinois. That was a wake-up call — both to the players and the fans. Look for an elevated level of intensity from both the players and the crowd as they welcome in the Washington Huskies to the not-so-friendly confines of Rice-Eccles Stadium. Look for the Utes to turn this one into a slugfest and dominate the Huskies in the trenches on both sides of the ball, knocking Washington out of the top 10 of the AP Poll as well as the College Football Playoff conversation.

TCU stuns Ohio State

We saw the Buckeyes fall to a Big 12 team at home early last season. This time, the Buckeyes travel to the Fort Worth without their head coach to face TCU head coach Gary Patterson and what could be the most underrated team in the land. The Horned Frogs have size and speed unlike anything Ohio State has seen during its first two games against Power 5 bottom-feeders. Look for TCU to limit Ohio State's explosive plays while quarterback Shawn Robinson has a breakout night, announcing himself to the nation as a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate.

*Remember, "outrageous" can be defined as “wildly exaggerated or improbable,” and “very bold, unusual, and startling.” These are "outrageous" predictions and should be treated as such.
