Week 7 of the 2020 college football season is filled with another slate of games that leave the door open for the outrageous to occur. As we try to tell people every year, the only rankings that matter are the final ones. We'll see that again this weekend.

Outrageous College Football Predictions for Week 7

Pitt hands Miami another loss

The Hurricanes walked away from their blowout loss to Clemson last weekend humbled and possibly exposed. That was the kind of game that can beat you in consecutive weeks, and now they need to shake it off and focus on a Pitt team that looks to be a tough out every week. Back-to-back one-point losses for the Panthers will be the driving motivation for quarterback Kenny Pickett and company to get back in the win column. A matchup with a heavily favored team still licking its wounds seems like the perfect recipe for the outrageous to occur.

South Carolina upsets Auburn

Auburn barely snuck out of their matchup with Arkansas with a win in their last outing. South Carolina is coming off a confidence-boosting blowout win over Vanderbilt after putting up decent fights against Tennessee and Florida. I like the Gamecocks, playing with house money, to pull off the road upset against an Auburn club still looking for an identity.

Florida State upsets North Carolina

The Seminoles played tougher than most thought they would last weekend at Notre Dame. I feel like that game gave them the confidence to realize they aren't quite as far away from being competitive as recent history would indicate. The Tar Heels, meanwhile, travel to Tallahassee with a top-five ranking and a target on their backs. You have to wonder how much is left in the tank a week after trading blows with Virginia Tech. Look for Florida State to pull off the stunner.

Georgia beats Alabama by two scores

As good as the Alabama offense has been, the defense looks suspect and the Crimson Tide have yet to face a defense as good as what Georgia will field on Saturday. Look for the Bulldogs to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, win the time of possession, and stymie the Alabama offense. Kirby Smart finally gets the win over Alabama, but it could come with an asterisk, as Nick Saban likely won't be in attendance as a result of COVID-19 protocols.
