ESPN analyst Pat McAfee has emerged as one of the most talked-about personalities in sports over the past few years. McAfee was a kicker and punter during his football career. In four years with the West Virginia Mountaineers, McAfee was 58-of-79 on field goal attempts while missing just two of 212 extra point attempts.

He was taken by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft, and he spent eight years in the league with them. He served as a primary punter and kickoff specialist, making two Pro Bowls and one First Team All-Pro selection in his NFL career.

Since retiring, McAfee has become one of the more polarizing figures in sports media.

In 2017, he started “The Pat McAfee Show,” a sports talk podcast with Barstool Sports. Two years later, he joined ESPN as a college football analyst and worked on Thursday Night primetime games. He was also a regular guest on shows like “Get Up” and “College GameDay.”

In September 2022, McAfee joined “College GameDay” as a full-time analyst for the show. Since then, he has endeared himself to college football fans with his energetic and bold nature.

This week, the 38-year-old announced a new endeavor outside of football. He said on his show that he will be releasing his first song, “Dookie,” on Thursday night.

The project has been a long time in the making, with McAfee describing it as a personal journey that merges two decades of writing with his first public musical release.

“For the last 20 years of my life I’ve been writing verses, choruses, and songs in my notes section… The journey into music has been an incredible process and I think there’s some BANGERS coming,” he wrote.

He said that his “College GameDay” open from when the show was at Oregon was made into a freestyle, then a real song.

This is exciting news for the millions of fans who love seeing and hearing McAfee each weekend. “Dookie” can now be streamed on Spotify and other streaming platforms.

After this song is released, McAfee will join the rest of the “GameDay” crew in Atlanta, Georgia, for the SEC Championship between the No. 9 Alabama Crimson Tide and No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday.
