College football’s 2016-17 bowl slate has reached its halfway point. With the games from Dec. 27 completed, 20 games are in the books and 20 bowl contests remain, with the national championship also to come on Jan. 9 in Tampa, Fla. While just 21 games are left in the college football season, there are several high-profile matchups on the upcoming slate. Ohio State-Clemson and Alabama-Washington anchor the College Football Playoff games on Dec. 31, Florida State-Michigan meet on Dec. 30 in the Orange Bowl, and three intriguing matchups – Sugar, Rose and Cotton – are slated for Jan. 2. Additionally, the Citrus Bowl between Louisville and LSU, along with the TaxSlayer Bowl (Georgia Tech-Kentucky) on Dec. 31 are a good opening act for the two playoff matchups later that day.
